Microsoft Review - Do We Really Need Windows 8 So Soon?

This weekend I was casually browsing up and down the aisles at one of my local computer stores. All the usual range of banners and promotional offers on, but it was one in particular that caught my eye. This is Windows 7 banner (no surprise there), but what caught my attention is that advertising Windows 7 as a "new" just released operating system. Of course, this is followed with the usual "faster, securer, and so on." marketing, but it got me thinking. If the stores stilladvertising Windows 7 as "new," whether we really need Windows 8 so soon?

I know you say that Windows 8 should not be released until early 2012 at the earliest, but realistically, the average consumer will not be ready for it. Windows 7 is out for more than 18 months at this stage, and while it makes good progress in terms of market share, I still do not feel that the vast majority of people even upgrade it yet.

400x256 windows8 game you really need Windows 8 so soon?

Microsoft is pretty valid case for getting Windows 7 as fast as they could (to Windows Vista). Not only is the average home user, but many companies and businesses around the world have clamored for an update, so if Microsoft wants to keep them, they had to surrender. And yes, Windows 7 has got thumbs up from pretty much everything, and they all seem pretty happy with it. Currently, there is nothing more that they want from the operating system that is fast, clean and reliable.

I know you're going to argue that Windows 8  isn't due to be released until early 2012 at the earliest, but realistically the typical consumer wont be ready for it. windows8 game 400x256 Do We Really Need Windows 8 So Soon?

Microsoft had a fairly valid case for receiving Windows 7 out as quick as they could (to make up for Windows Vista). Not only the average property user, but also countless enterprises and enterprises about the world were shouting for an update, so if Microsoft wanted to maintain them, they had to deliver. And they did, Windows 7 has received the thumbs up from pretty much every person and they all seem pretty content material with it. At the moment there is nothing far more that they want than an operating system that is rapid, clean and dependable.

Microsoft Dropped Office Accounting: Why the Surprise?

Sometimes seemingly smart people just have bad ideas. As Germany opens second front against the Soviet Union in World War II. Making the movie Speed Racer. Trading away Cliff Lee. I definitely putting Jay Leno Show in prime time every weeknight.

My friend Brian, who runs the company's employee benefits, it is certainly clever. He also had a bad idea. He is so angry that he does not want me to reveal his name or his company in that column. I can not blame him. For more than two years, Brian uses Microsoft Office Accounting software in its operations. Just last month, Microsoft (MSFT) announced the termination of the program. Now Brian is stuck.

did not seem like such a bad idea, when Brian bought the program. Introduced in 2006, Microsoft Office Accounting is a challenge for Sage Software Peachtree and Intuit's (INTU) QuickBooks, then the leaders in small business accounting software. My company sells Microsoft and Intuit software, and I must admit that even we were encouraged by the announcement. Accounting Office, is included as part of Office Small Business Edition, to integrate with Word, Excel and Outlook. It was cheap. It would be supported by a growing network of "small business experts," such as my firm. And most exciting of all, it's made by Microsoft. It sounded like a good idea, right?

is wrong.

This fall, we get a new talk show from Wanda Sykes, Jimmy Fallon, George Lopez, and many others, including Jay. Many lack experience with the format and, according to some commercials I've seen, extremely unfunny. In the case of Leno, there is also competition from scripted dramas to other kanalima.Softverskoj industry is no different. The market is flooded with new technology from an untested company. Wasting time watching Leno is not so great thing. However, choosing the wrong software for your business. So how do businesses know that technology or company that makes it-will still be around five years from now before you invest valuable time and money in it? Just do not do what Brian did.

Brian thought that investing in the product. But he should have realized that investing in a company-one with a track record of termination products that are not sold and the allocation of fewer resources to support the less profitable products. Microsoft also seems able to get the product works well until at least its third iteration. See Windows, SQL Server and Office. Rarely would a small business owner to become an early adopter of any technology from any company, especially Microsoft when it comes to something as critical as accounting. Brian should have waited a few versions before you leap.

Like Leno and his producers, Brian should take a harder look at the competitive landscape. There were already a bunch of strong products accounting software for small businesses when Microsoft released Office Accounting. What features make this product stand out? Integration with Outlook, Word and Excel? A lower price? Easier to use? Already did. Office Accounting is nothing new for ponuditi.Vlasnik company can pick up QuickBooks or Peachtree with many of the same features and prices about the same. And these products have been around much longer.

Another important factor is how much outside support software enjoys. Small businesses need support, not only the suppliers but also from their partners and other business owners who use the product. Brian's antenna should have been raised when he asked other business owners, colleagues, and what he thinks of accountants Accounting Office and was mostly met with blank stares. Nobody knew about it. Where were the beneficiary of the conference? Blogs? Buzz?

Accounting Office is the only addition to the

When Brian was a Research Accounting Office, revealed that Microsoft is a community of "small business experts" who will help him with this product. If you dig further to find that the community has only recently been formed, consisting mainly of Microsoft partners who were not certified public accountants is necessary or indeed any accounting background. If he asked more questions, he would have learned that will be a Small Business Specialist, one needed only to have a computer, to have attended primary school, and be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. I should know. That's pretty much how I became a firm small business experts. And we're not so good at walking and chewing gum. Many companies have the expertise of a CPA with the accounting systems. Unfortunately for Microsoft (and Brian), but not this.

While Office Accounting can be purchased on its own, Microsoft is pushing it more as a supplement to an existing Office. It is still red zastava.Proizvod was one of hundreds that Microsoft sells. At its next-to-nothing price, its potential to become an important profit maker is remote. In other words, Office Accounting is a little more than a marketing gimmick to promote sales offices. So when the trick does not work, Microsoft pulled the plug. If Leno evaluation does not improve, his show may suffer a similar fate.

Brian learned that if he would buy the important software technology company, the product should be the core application, not something peddled to promote other products.

This is not the end of the world. Competition accounting software vendors provide tools to migrate Brian Database Office Accounting to their products. No need to worry Jay. Long after his talk show was canceled, it will be successful in doing stand-up and appears as a guest on Letterman. But next time, Brian will have to learn their lesson. He will know what to consider before buying a key technology for their business. I am afraid that the same can not be true for TV. I heard Paula Abdul is considering launching a talk show. Some people never learn.

Microsoft Calls Skype On Our Dime

sizcache = "0" sizset = "56">

Our irrational tax laws made it rational for Ballmer to spend a fortune acquiring a company that makes no money.

Microsoft has built a huge cash hoard in the decades that its Windows and Office software dominates the personal computer industry. This dominance comes to an end, but money is still sitting there. Much of it overseas, as a result of sales abroad. (1)

When firms accumulate money far greater than what they need to work, management is coming under pressure or return it to shareholders in the form of dividends or share repurchases, or to spend it on expansion and acquisitions. It would be great for shareholders if Microsoft could distribute their assets to produce another cash cow like Windows, or hardware home run as the Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod. However, the company's track record is unimpressive.

Windows made Microsoft one hit čudo.Suite Office software is a great commercial success, which piggybacked on the success of Windows. Almost everything else Microsoft has released in recent decades is basically relevant to the company's largest.

...

If you can not constructively use its cash, Microsoft should go back to shareholders so they can invest elsewhere. This is where the tax laws get in the way. To one U.S. dollars and foreign cash home, Microsoft will face the U.S. rate of 35 per cent tax. This will leave 65 cents on the dollar to pay shareholders. If the 65 cents paid in the form of dividends, is 15 percent federal tax, or about 10 cents, will be due. That leaves 55 cents for shareholders. But some shareholders face state and local taxes to about 10 percent, and they can pay another 10 cents on the dividend, leaving those unfortunate investors with just 45 cents in the dollar homeland.

...

So, Microsoft reached for Skype. Skype happen to be included in the Luxembourg, and the money invested for the purchase of its shares is not considered returned to the U.S. not U.S. taxes are due. If the job turns out to be a great success, Microsoft can still keep Skype foreign profits made abroad, deferring U.S. taxes indefinitely. If a job is a disaster, Ballmer can tell shareholders do not feel bad because the alternative is giving their money to the half that is taxed away, regardless.

...

This logic helped Ballmer to justify the very high price has agreed to pay for Skype, whose specialty is the transmission of video and voice calls from computer to computer for free, as well as ordinary phones anywhere in the world for very little money. Those pennies add millions of users and $ 860 million annual revenue, but not get so far. Microsoft hopes to change that through a much broader customer base by integrating Skype services in everything from Xbox games on Windows itself.

My wife and older daughter have traveled to Spain together, and I hopscotched the country on a business trip. Our younger daughter attends college in the Chicago area and is interviewing for summer internships in journalism. My mother was visiting friends in California. My wife's father was visiting doctors in New York.

We had a lot of family news to share, and this week, our family has most of the sharing on Facebook. We have made minimal use of mobile phones in Europe, where AT & T will charge us about $ 2 per minute for voice calls. We could have talked for much less on Skype, but none of us use it. We could have video chats with the software that came with our laptops, but I would not bother to postavljanje.Više smoothly integrated voice and video phone system could not trapped by our business.
